Papushnyk is a sweet, aromatic bread made by the ancient Slavs according to an old recipe for religious holidays, and from the 18th to the early 20th century, it became the main dish on Ukrainian Easter tables. In Old Slavonic, "papa" means bread, hence the name.

Its preparation required the most time and effort. Papushnyk is always made in a wood-fired oven. Juicy raisins, crunchy candied fruits, and orange zest are added to the fluffy, tender dough, while vanilla and spicy rum with spices give it a light bitterness.

Nowadays, every Ukrainian can travel back in time and have a fragrant, fluffy papushnyk on their own table, reviving ancient traditions and tasting the Ukrainian festive treat on Easter.
